Calpe Cat Shelter relies on volunteers from several nationalities who want to improve the lives of cats in need of help within the Calpe area. We are always keen to welcome any new volunteers. You do not have to live here permantly!

Care of the Shelter:

The majority of volunteers are needed for the daily care of the shelter. There are two shifts every day with the morning one being the most important. This shift involves around 3 to 4 hours of work for one person (1 to 2 hours for a team of two) and is responsible for cleaning the entire shelter including cleaning and replenishing all litter trays, food and water bowls. The afternoon shift is less demanding, and involves 30 to 60 minutes of work for one person and is responsible for replenishing the water and food bowls and the emptying of litter trays.

Petting the Cats:

If you are unable to perform the physical demands involved in caring for the shelter, you may still like to volunteer to pet the cats at some point duiring the day for maybe 30 to 60 minutes. Our cats love the attention and of course it is far easier to find them permanent homes if they remain friendly .

Fund Raising and Social Media:

The Cat Shelter aims to increase its profile going forward and we woudl therefore very much welcome anyone who can spend some time helping to maintain our social media activities and website. Similarly anyone who might be able to help with fund raising activities would be highly valued.
